National Trail Parks & Recreation District Administrative Offices

Springfield, OH

2003

McCall Sharp Architecture was contracted to master plan the 20 acres of parkland along Mitchell Boulevard and design an 8,630 square foot administrative office building in the park. Located along a major thoroughfare, the building is the headquarters and communications center of park operations.

A large lobby provides reception space and public access to the facility. One wing of the building is for public assemblies of up to 60 people, accompanied by a kitchen and break room, as well as a 20 seat board room. The other wing is a secured office area, consisting of a reception/greeting area, two private executive offices, two conference rooms, a work room and open office space for 13 stations.

Natural materials of stone, stucco, tiles, and standing seam roof in a natural earth color palette keep with the corporate identity of the other park buildings. Special consideration was given to proper foundation design using caissons. As a result of our cost conscious approach given to the design, the $800,000 facility bid at 20% under estimates.
