Springfield High School Library Renovation
Springfield, OH
2025
This project reimagines 10,485 square feet of Springfield High School’s existing library into a flexible, student-centered learning environment that supports both collaboration and focused study. The renovation transforms a dated, underutilized space into a bright, open, and welcoming hub for students and staff.
The design introduces a variety of learning settings, including open study areas, small group collaboration zones, and enclosed rooms for quiet work and instruction. Strategic reconfiguration of the existing layout, through the introduction of new partition walls and openings, creates clear organization while maintaining visual connectivity across the space.
A refreshed material palette, improved lighting, and updated furnishings contribute to a more contemporary and engaging atmosphere, while careful coordination with existing building systems allowed for seamless integration of new rooms within the existing structure. Adjustments to lighting and fire protection systems were thoughtfully incorporated to support the new layout.
The result is a modernized library that better reflects today’s educational needs, supporting flexibility, technology integration, and a variety of learning styles within a cohesive, inviting environment.
