Chatham Township is currently under construction, located near Medina, Ohio. The nearly 15,000 SF station features pull-through apparatus bays, living space for firefighters, administrative offices for the township, and a community room capable of hosting large events. At the center of the project is a tornado shelter designed to support first responders in the event of a tornado. The shelter will be constructed with heavily reinforced 12" CMU walls capped by a reinforced concrete slab. The building is designed with a conventional frame building for the administration and living spaces and a pre-engineered metal building to house the apparatus. These construction methods plus an uncomplicated building layout make the station easy to expand as the needs of the township evolve over time.
