Oesterlen Valley View Cottage
McCall Sharp Architecture completed this $1.5 million project in June, 2010. The ValleyView Cottage is a secure 8,436 square foot institutional residential building to house 10 male and female youth. The building was designed to acommodate the needs of the developmentally disabled.
Oesterlen offers a continuum of residential and community services for youth. The cottage has one wing with two bedroom pods of five individual bedrooms each. The cottage has a living room, recreation room, staff offices, time-out room and a laundry room. The dining room is a shared space overlooking the grounds. The hallmark of the design are the windows with views of the wooded valley and the building is designed using Green Technology including geothermal heating and cooling and solar tube natural daylighting.
